RV nailed it a few weeks ago

Our fan base is befuddling. Across various boards I'm reading how bad thus Kentucky team is.
    at 8-3.
The kids win some games by defense, they suck
The kids win this one by offense, they suck.

Just a quick search, Stockstill is the highest ranked QB we faced this year. He is the ONLY active D-1qb with 100+ TD passes. He is in the all time leaders in touchdowns at number 25. Repeat...all time.

And still the internet is alive with 'this team is awful' posts.

Head scratching. And I can understand if one was a coach or player infuriating.

The record book shows wins. Not how 'exciting' or pretty the play was.

Our fans can be really stupid. It’s annoying in basketball, but when you are trying to turn a football program around, it’s terrible and counter productive.

IMO the kid we played against today is an NFL caliber quarterback. I am not upset about today’s performance at all. Our defense is dinged up and weary . They should be very formidable in a bowl game with a month to rest and heal. The offense is our problem, it has kept a good UK squad from being a great team. Regardless UK has made great strides this season. Can we sustain this, I’m not sure, I have my doubts that we ever will be a perinial contender with Gran running our offense unless we manage to recruit a top flight QB. We will lose 2 of our best 3 skill position playersConrad and Snell , we need at least one more really good receiver and running back to sustain us even if we find a good qb , With all that said we are better, NOBODY counted us as a sure Win this season and that is a huge stride forward

I'm not saying we're terrible, we aren't. I'm not saying we aren't vastly improved, we are. What I am saying is that I can't understand how we can beat the likes of Fl., Miss. St., and Missouri and then get hammered by UT and only beat Middle Tenn. by 11 points. In my opinion, we haven't played well since returning from the bye week. If beating Slippery Rock by a point brings you great joy, I have no problem with that. Narrow wins over inferior competition used to delight me, when we were terrible. We're no longer terrible and I expect more from my team. I'm looking into the future and I see us getting a bid to a very nice bowl with a win over U of L. When you play in very nice bowls, you usually play very good teams. If we play a very good team in our very nice bowl, if we don't pick it up a few notches, we'll lose our third bowl game in a row. Just going to a bowl no longer cuts it for me. I'd like to see us win one.

Not only are we losing Conrad and Snell, we are also losing Big George and Bunchy.. Even so, our offense will be vastly improved next year. Take it to the bank.

I tend to think it WILL improve for no other reason than Wilson will be a year older. We have some depth on the o line and very likely a five star lineman coming back from injury.
lets be honest....Rose is faster than Benny. I'm looking forward to Rodriguez...who some said is another kid that runs mad at the world, and Smoke....who by all accounts has a huge up side.
The defense....that's gonna be a chore. Some kids you can't replace. Could be some shoot out games next year by necessity.

I'm never going to complain about being 8-3, because at Kentucky, that's rarified air.

I WILL complain when I feel that our coordinators aren't putting our players in the best positions to succeed. The offensive play calling for much of the second half of the schedule has been anemic, and I don't know how one could argue that.

We won by two scores against a conference champion. Had we come out with 4 quarters of focused play we would have beaten them by more. We didn’t play great, but it wasn’t a bad game.

We we need to find a way to enjoy the best football played around here in a generation.

He is part of a pretty solid offensive line. But I know you mean as a receiver. And I agree.

To be clear. I think he is NFL caliber. We didn't use him much so cant really say we will be affected.

#44 Mobley is as good as most of the RB's we've faced. The program said he was 235 lbs. He looked every bit of that and was hard to bring down..

Oh yes we did. I agree I would love to have more passes thrown his way, but CJ was a very important part of the offense.

CJ is not only a good receiver but he is an excellent blocker as well. His stats don't jump out at you but there is a reason he is an NFL prospect. Still, with a weapon like him, it is head scatching that he is rarely involved in the pass game. But let's face it. We have no passing game. We have two matchup nightmares in Conrad and Bowden but we continue to call pee wee league play calls. Run up the gut on 1st and 2nd. Pass short of the sticks on 3rd down. Punt. Seriously?

Another thing. Ditch that stupid Wildcat Formation. Unless we can keep D's honest by having a passing threat in it, that formation just screams offensive ineptitude. The Wildcat with Benny in it hasn't worked in WEEKS.
