As mentioned above, if the Cats win out they control everything.👍 1Comment

I hate - HATE - to use basketball in football discussions but I think it's appropriate here.
Do you think UK will be pounded by Duke? UK is good, Duke is good.
By the same token 'bama is good and UK is good. UK is a legit top 15 team, maybe even top 10. Does a top 10-15 team ever beat the #1 team? Do they have a chance?
So your choice would then be to avoid the situation? You can't beat 'em if you don't play 'em.Comment

Same here. UK needs to win out to win the East. It really doesn't matter who wins the UGA/Florida game. If anything a Florida win would help because UK has the tie breaker on them.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I was out all day yesterday so I didn't see anything. I was shocked by Tennessee's win. Gus may be in a lot of trouble at Auburn.
Even more shocked at UGA's loss. Not so much they lost,LSU is very good. But by the margin. That may take UGA out of the playoff talk for a while.
On the national scene, WVU getting pounded by Iowa State may have taken the Big 12 out of the playoff talk. Also Oregon beating Washington took the PAC 12 out for another season.
So right now the top 4 teams are probably:
Alabama
Ohio State
Clemson
And maybe Notre Dame. You know ND will be in the playoffs if they are undefeated.Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

What if...LSU beats Alabama, and Kentucky and Florida both win out? Who makes the playoff? The winner of the SEC Championship Game and Alabama, along with Ohio State and Clemson, leaving a one loss Florida team out of it?
I’d really like to see the Big XII champion play the SEC’s top non-playoff team in the Sugar Bowl. I’d love to see a top SEC team play the PAC-12 champion too, though that’s not going to occur.
If I were the SEC commissioner for a day, I’d tell the other conferences they could split 90% of the championship game revenue in any year they won the national championship so long as they agreed to a new six team playoff format:
Week 1:
Rose Bowl: Big Ten champ vs. PAC 12 champ
Orange or Cotton Bowl: Big XII champ vs. ACC champ
Week 2:
Rose Bowl winner vs. SEC #1 or #2
Orange/Cotton Bowl winner vs. SEC #1 or #2
Week 3: remains winners play for national championship
They’d never agree to it but the press coverage would be terrific for the conference and would lead to a lot of writers and talking heads conceding that, yes, it’s actually a pretty fair proposal and probably wouldn’t lead to more SEC champions than the current system. Then up the ante and give it more life by offering the other four conferences 100% of the championship game revenue in any season the SEC isn’t in it, or maybe even if the SEC doesn’t win it. And, heck, if they did agree to it, I’m not sure the SEC would lose any money over time.
The current playoff now might as well be called the SEC Invitational as it is.
