Not to beat an ailing steed, but if we had a proven QB, we would not be having this discussion.

Hard to be believe it’s already the sixth season. Time has flown by
Only two wins would be a disasterous season for sure. A five win season is a possibility because we have five tough games on the road. If we only win five and perform under par, a lot of fans will be calling for a replacement.

In my opinion, it's a sad state of affairs when we have nine returning def. starters, an all world TE in Conrad and Benny Snell and a coach about to begin his sixth season and we're talking about the possibility of a five win season.

Even though I appreciate this staff (believe it or not)
a major step backwards....5, 4 wins....along with not being competitive as in the Louisville, State and Georgia games would give my 'lets get the search committee' sirens going.
Too much experience and depth to not play competitively.

Oh I think we will play hard and compete, I'm just wanting to see us being able to go on the road and win. The QB situation is an unknown to most of us, and maybe we'll be surprised. I sure hope so.

It doesn't mean we WILL continue the trend but we're 5-5 on the road the last two years. I like our chances with a very veteran team.

In keeping withe name of this thread.......When is the last time.......... a head football coach said this:

At yesterday’s football women’s clinic, Mark Stoops said this is the most in-shape he has ever seen his team.

Well, I seem to read some similar statement every pre season.

What else are they gonna say?

Talking regular season only....8-4 or better is a rousing success with a raise and contract extension......5,6 or 7 wins, Stoops is back but the success of this season and the heat of his seat in the next depends on who we beat and how competitive we were in the losses...less than 5 wins is unacceptable and he should be gone....

We don’t have a QB that has thrown an SEC pass. WHY are people ignoring that. It is an enormous factor regarding our success this season

I like the post JL, and agree. BUT Hoak not seeing any action in the four blowouts last year is a little puzzling.
we know now how badly Johnson was injured, and bless his heart we saw how Barker struggled
Just sour grapes on my part.

If Hoak was good enough, I believe we would've seen him by now.

In my opinion, the success of the season is riding on the shoulders of the def. Or, perhaps I should say, the ability of the def. coaches. The talent, for a more than serviceable def., should be there. There's an old saying that off. sells tickets, and def. wins championships. If the def. comes through, and the off. does anything at all, we should win at least six games, in my opinion.

I'm not sure anyone is ignoring it. We're not the only team that has experienced this. The quoted statement will be moot by September 9. Someone or two is going to take the snaps this fall and thereby gain experience. The candidates seem capable. We will see how it all plays out but again, they will be surrounded by a very veteran team so perhaps they won't have to do too much and can grow into the position. It may prove to be an enormous factor, it may not - depends on the results.

The backup to the backup doesn't normally get snaps. You may not like that he didn't get snaps but you shouldn't be puzzled as to why he didn't.

I think UK makes a jump this season. I really do.

Problem is, in this league you can make a jump and still "only" hit 7 wins.

But I think this is going to be a very good season. The roster is there. I don't even mind the quarterback situation, as green as those guys are.

Believe we're in for a very good fall. This is the best UK has looked on paper in the Stoops era.

The 6-win prognostications are still not that far off, unfortunately. It's the league we play in.
