    When is the last time

You read about a team with two guys on the Bednarik watch list, a TE that NFL scouts say may be the best prospect, a first team SEC running back, a second year wide receiver on the Horning watch list, an intact and talent wise improving offensive line and nearly all of it's defense returning projected to win 6 games?????

Seems like some prognosticators are wanting to bet the over line on wins losses awful bad.

I wonder about this. I wonder if the view of KY this season is based on legacy, depth, or a lack of faith in the staff. It sure looks like we finally have an average, competitive SEC football team.

Just reading on things a bit more, it seems many would not be shocked to see Kentucky open and go 4-1 or even better. Big question is second half of season melt downs.
      thats a legit point.
Missouri DID improve last year, but their run was against teams that were either badly flawed or had pretty much shut down.......until they ran into a very mediocre(by their standards) Texas team.

Gotta finish as a better team than you start.

I think this will always be the situation until UK shows that they can consistently field a team that is capable of beating the better teams on their schedule. And, after all, we are in the SEC which is, arguably, the best college fb conference in America.

Because this is Kentucky football and we have problems putting away lesser teams. If we didn't have close games with the WKU's and EKU's of the world then maybe the press would be more positive.

              ...
I attribute that 'melt down' the last few seasons to lack of depth for the most part and more difficult second half of the season to a lesser degree. We now have the deepest team in a decade at least and IMO the deepest team I've ever witnessed. Perhaps we can bust that 7 win ceiling.

Had to edit this, had tech problems. haha.

Not sure how any of those pre season watch lists translate to wins and losses. Kentucky had zero players in this last NFL draft. Don't know the numbers, but I wonder how many other SEC teams were blanked in the recent draft. I have heard there could be anywhere from 3 to 7 UK players in the next draft. Maybe that is a better predictor than the watch lists.

Anyway, I feel that the program has under performed. Yes, if it weren't for a couple of fluke plays, Kentucky would have had a win against Florida. But, a loss is still a loss. The official that wrongly kicked Snell out of the game and the Cats lost the bowl.

I don't expect to be impressed or for the team to win more than 7. Hope I am wrong about my prediction, the way I was wrong about The Rich Brooks season, when the majority of fans wanted him fired and he finally started winning. I can't drink from the pool of hopes and dreams, anymore. The honeymoon is over for me.

Prove me wrong Coach. Put a defense on the field that can stop the run and have secondary that won't leave receivers wide open in the flat. Put an offense on the field that can execute the passing game and keep the defenses from loading the box on Mr. Snell. He has been given nicer facilities and the most precious gift of time. It's time for Coach to give back.

The answer to this question should be painfully obvious — we do not have a QB who has ever taken an FBS snap.

Well....UK has an even larger opportunity to thumb their nose at analysts.

247 projects UK to be 4-8, one conference win.

                      My, oh my.
Nice to be the underdog, not so nice to be totally overlooked.

In my opinion, unless some unimaginable tragedy befalls the team, if we win less than six games coach Stoops should be shown the door.

Maybe a two win season would result in an end to the Stoops Era, otherwise not a chance. The buyout still is too high. A five win season would be highly disappointing and it is a worrisome possibility, but still he would be perfectly safe.

Hard to be believe it’s already the sixth season. Time has flown by

Not at all. In my opinion 5 wins is more likely than 6 or more unless I am really wrong about USC and Missouri’s improvement.

Maybe the team puts it together and has a greatest in decades 8 win season, maybe things go well and we win 7 again, but 6 should be considered good and 5 disappointing ok season.

We have 3 cupcakes, USC, UM, MSU, UL are coin flips, and you never “expect” to beat UT, UF, and TAMU on the road. Then there is UGA.

5 wins this year would mean hemorrhaging attendance next year and definite hit seat, not a firing.
