Great read. Thanks for posting it, Uncle Dave. I especially like the part where he owned up to being self-centered last season, but says that's behind him now.Philippians 4:11-4:13 -

There seems to be a change this Spring practice from the first two years. I sense the coaches are "pushing" the players harder this spring, and there is more depth and competition. During the first two years I had the impression that the coaches felt limited in what they could expect from players, given the talent level and the lack of depth. What is that old saying "You can't make silk purses out of sows' ears." The coaches were just trying to get them to play as hard as they could. Now the coaches are talking more aggressively as if they have some raw silk in those ears. Now's the time to make some silk purses. So you hear Bowden talking about going "head first." No, I don't read tea leaves, but I do look for signs. It definitely has me pumped up.Comment

Put more info in the thread title! I was panicking that he had left, got arrested, or was hurt...

IMO, we will be solid in both lines and solid on defense. But, I think we are in desperate need of offensive play-makers. Someone needs to emerge to take the pressure off of Snell. And, as of now, I do not see any Randall Cobbs, Derek Locks or even Boom Williams on the roster. I think there is a huge opportunity for Bowden to fill that role. And, I think we desperately need him to do that.Comment

I keep waiting for that, "Lynn Bowden MOMENT." I see skill, 'watched the high school video, have my own expectations but Lynn began his career with little prep (because of his late enrollment at UK) and had of missteps in his first couple of games and since then has had some nice plays but I am still waiting for us to say, "NOW! This is what we have been waiting for."
I believe SBCatMan is right. We need to take the attention off Benny. Come on, Lynn.Comment

Snell, Conrad and Bowden give the offense what should be three very dangerous players at three disparate positions. That alone should make it difficult for an opposing DC to have all bases covered well on any given down. If the OL is solid and the WRs improve (or at least a couple emerge as consistent threats) this should be a difficult unit to get off the field. We need a QB to emerge with sound, solid play and decision making. And Snell has to stay healthy; that backfield is thin and unproven behind him.Comment

I, in no way, see that Bowden equals Cobb. Yes, they both used to be QBs in high school. Fans always like to make comparisons. Would like to see Mr. Bowden get utilized more ad earn the Cobb comparison. Hope he has a break out season. Last year he had the "potential star" tag on him, imho.
Kentucky really missed Boom Williams, last season. They didn't have the speedster to go with the bull, Mr Snell. I wouldn't trade Snell for anyone. But, would also like to see a track star type player, that can take it to the house, if the D makes a mistake on him.Comment

Try this on on for size. Happened just the other day. He shows incredible athletic ability in adjusting to the ball for a completion.

I think he will have better numbers than Cobb. The thing is he won't mean what Cobb meant to our program because we are in a better spot than then. I look at Cobb similar to Patrick Patterson. They came in at a low/average point in the program and gave us hope and helped us turn things around. I look at Bowden as the next Golden Tate. They both almost make it seem effortless. Like, it looks like he's jogging but he's out jogging guys who are in a full sprint. I think this season we will see him make some huge plays, especially in the return game.👍 1Comment
