UCF played in a bowl game last year, but they were 0-12 in 2015 and it has been a remarkable turnaround.
I don't know how many people saw it in that game, but one of their defensive players only has one hand, and he had a pretty big game today. I'm surprised that kid hasn't received national attention yet. I suspect there is a pretty inspirational story there.

We had a thread about that a while back. I think my only contribution to it was a question that no one really answered: in how many of the past 20 years or so did the team that would've been #4 in a playoff have as much of a claim to deserving a national championship as the #1 team?Comment

The SEC has two teams in the playoff. That resulted in matchups like a ranked Northwestern team, 7-2 in the Big Ten, vs. an unranked Kentucky team that was 4-4 in conference play. The country has been used to seeing a lot of bowl games where, say, the #4 or #5 SEC team beats the #2 or #3 Big Ten team. But pull your teams from further down and those wins become tougher.
I don't think you'll have any real measure of how the SEC measured up this year until after the playoff is finished.
If tonight ends with two SEC teams defeating the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the polls and playoff rankings, which happen to be the Big XII and ACC champions, I think it's pretty hard to say that the SEC is overrated.Last edited by Old School; 01-01-2018, 08:36 PM.Comment
