Also, statistically you do DO go for it in that situation in a pro game because of how the overtimes are played. Not in college. OK, that really is my last post on it.

I would point out that UGA just kicked the xp to tie...

But, here is something very curious to me which has received virtually no attention at all -- what about that weird onside kick attempt? Agreed, chances of recovering an onside kick are slim -- what? -- maybe 1 in 10 or something ... especially when the other team knows it is coming. But, that mid-range pooch kick -- we had pretty close to a zero chance of recovering that. Am I missing something? What was up with that?
A lot of posts in here addressed what SBCatMan didn't start this thread to discuss. Few discussed the topic he raised: the final kickoff. Any thoughts on that from anyone?

RV nailed it. That kick while poorly executed was a good attempt to recover the ball in fg range.

They also had a much better chance to win in OT than UK ever did in their game. Although I wouldn't have blamed UGA a bit if they went for two. They had all the momentum at the time and IMO would have won it there.

Those pop up onside kicks never work. I thought it was a bad decision by Stoops to try that. I know why he did but I have never seen one like that work on the college or pro level.

I know. You go for 2 if you don't think you have the better (or even) team and you want to "steal" a win. In most games I think the xp gets kicked in that situation, like 90% of the time. I'm not being critical of the call, I just don't think it is as obvious a choice as some here seem to think.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Agreed....I am sure they have worked at some point but I don't recall seeing you recently. Probably no way to ever find out but I'd like to see some examples of it.

We almost got one to work against Miss St two years ago...

It's so rare to see a team leave that part of the field open, that I doubt most teams ever practice that type kick.

With Snell you probably kick. You have a bona fide way to get yards in that case.

We were playing on a prayer as it was. It would've taken Johnson slinging it to receivers who'd had the drops all game while not getting himself killed.

Not a good gameplan. The game was hamstrung when the official threw Snell out. You try to win it there and if you can't then you made a good run.
