    Carousel is rolling

Ol Miss announced some time ago their head coaching position is open.
back to back SEC east champ MacIlvain(sp) apparently has agreed to buyout from Florida.
    Jmo....coaching changes looking:
    Tennessee....just wasn't a good fit. A shock if it doesn't happen.
TexasA&M....Sumlin has been on a precariois edge for three years. The beatdown by what turns out to be a really good Miss State won't help.
Arkansas....from what I've read their coach's relationship with administration is like fingernails on a chalkboard at the best of times.

So the two questions seem to be
Who else is on the line, and,
How many more coordinators does Saban have to move on up?

Florida situation sure escalated quickly. The intra-season moves kinda blow my mind. As if things are actually going to improve immediately with the interim staff. I suppose it's done that way to appease an uneasy fanbase but I'm not sure that's the way to do business. Mitch wouldn't.

From what I've been able to pick up, Coach Mc certainly had never been in a pressure cooker like Florida. The talk currently is that UF investigated coach's claims of threat, could find no evidence, and there was movement to fire "for cause".coach confronted the athletic Dept, told them he would resign for less than full buyout to get out of the crap. Florida agreed.

I think the Florida leadership had to do it now to appear "pro-active" rather that postponing the inevitable until the end of the season and have everyone believe they were "reacting" to fan pressure. Also, now that the deed is done, all interested candidates can float their name with plenty of time for Florida to pick a new coach before the end of the season, though any announcement would likely be delayed until the end of the season. It's all about timing!

The announcers said that Florida has a top 10 recruiting class lined up. Firing the coach puts that in jeopardy. If it helps anybody, I would think that it will greatly help FSU and Miami to poach those recruits that won't stick with them.

Mitch did that with Joker (although he did allow Joker to finish the season).

I can't remember the last time there was so much instability in the SEC.

Right now it's two teams and everyone else. One of the scary things for an incoming coach would be to look at the depth in those two. I saw that Georgia as of today has FIVE five star running backs. Alabama's second line could very well be a top ten team.
everybody else plays catch up. And these days a coach MAY get three years to get there.

The Florida move makes perfect sense. Knowing good and well that UT (and other SEC schools) will be looking for a new coach at season's end or sooner, Florida got out ahead of the rest of the pack in order to get first dibs on any available coach. Now, UT won't be able to make any offers until Florida's had a crack at the candidates, first.

Someone wrote the other day that this is UT's time to choose whether or not they're a top-tier program, and refusing to terminate Butch and find that top tier coach NOW suggests that they aren't going to get the hire right this time, either.

Either way, savvy move by Florida if you ask me.

After the UGA game, a ton of UF fans were calling for Mc's head. After our game with Florida, I thought Mc's comments were weird. It seemed like he was in a daze and not sure what had happened.

Anyone think that Charlie Strong will get his shot at the UF job or has he lost his luster after the Texas job?

I dont care where Strong ends up, as long as it is not UL

Petrino will never get offered. I like him where he is, on the decline. I would be surprised if he gets offered a better job at this point in his career.
