It’s not the record it is the type of football we have played. Super conservative against teams we were physically superior to leading to close games. Blowing a chance to beat Florida when we had better personnel for the first time in decades, AND the toughest part of the schedule ahead of us. A lot of folks myself included have not been made believers yet, that could change but I need to see a bit more football before I sign on to this being a really good UK squad.. Saturday is a HUGE game IMO, win that one and the fans will start to come around, beat Miss St and Tenn at home and our fan base will be in a frenzy for remainder of season. Based on what I have seen we could just as easily go 6-6 as 10-2, both are possible.

The "conservative" thing is usually brought up as a criticism of Stoops.

But IMO there are two sides to it. It's also one of his positives.

Because it's how we milk games, tilt time of possession, and get the game to where it's winnable late.

I'm not sure we have the personnel to play anything but conservative. Not enough playmakers, an offensive line that's hellaciously inconstant, etc.

I don't watch much football but I was flipping through yesterday and saw situations where teams were the opposite of conservative...and it bit them. Clemson for example with the weird fake punt at the end.

When you're 5-1 coming off the solid season we had last year, and when most of these games are starting to look eerily similar, then you have to start thinking that conservatism is part of the plan.

The new coaches poll is out.

Kentucky is at #26, first among Others Receiving Votes.

LSU's comeback from 20-0 to beat Auburn slipped them in at #25 ahead of Kentucky.

Texas A&M's 19-17 win at Florida slipped them past Kentucky to #24.

West Virginia's comeback win against Texas Tech slipped them in at #23.

        So close.

Unfortunately, a win at Mississippi State may not get Kentucky into the rankings. 17 NC State, 22 Stanford and 24 Texas A&M have bye weeks. #18-25 play Colorado, Indiana, Navy, Arkansas, Baylor and Ole Miss. There may not be a spot that opens up.
