    At the halfway point

Strange year. I guess I had my ideas of being a Georgia or Alabama....so the thing about struggling to win every game gives me some qualms.
offensive line play nowhere near last year. Defense WAS awfully impressive till last night. Special teams still looks special.
    BUT:
these kids are 5-1. Lost one against Florida we had, but maybe Should have lost against Missouri. So a wash there.
the team is finding a way to win. Yeah, I know....FLORIDA. we found a way to win that too....just a holding penalty and a little bit out of range.

great spot to have a break. Two weeks to heal and learn and think. Certainly helped Missouri out. Just the rest should help the UK kids.

Meat grinder part of the schedule coming up. State, Vandy, Georgia, ol Miss, those Orange devils and the team we all love to detest.
all of them have things they do well. UK does too.

I like the way these kids gritted their teeth and found some way to hold on the past couple of games. Since 75 when I started kind of keeping up.with this off and on, I've see plenty times there was no holding on.

as odd as this year feels, I can't help it....I really do like this team.

For the life of me, I don't know why we don't use Conrad more. I don't know if we are keeping him in to block more or if Johnson is spreading it around more. When you have a weapon like CJ, he has got to be used more.

Bowden is starting to come on a tad here lately. One game he is going to bust one. He is so slippery and so fast.

So much for our secondary. We have some talent back there but continue to get burned on the regular. So frustrating.

Up next is a tough trip to Starkville to face a good Mississippi State team. Their QB will be a test for UK's D.

Tennessee is in disarray, and should get hammered by Alabama this weekend. The line is 33 right now.

Ole Miss is an inconsistent squad. They have some playmakers, though, and are dangerous.

Vanderbilt has been a different team in different games. UK doesn't often play well in Nashville.

All three of those (Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt) are very winnable games against teams that aren't necessarily better, or worse, than Kentucky this year.

      Georgia is looking terrific.

Louisville is slipping on skids right now. Their defense isn't sound. They have a really good QB and little else that works well. Their wins this year are unimpressive:

Purdue, 35-28; Purdue was 3-9, 1-8 last year.

North Carolina, 47-35; UNC is 1-6, 0-4 this year.

Kent State is 2-5, 1-2 now.

Murray State is in a lower division.

Before Kentucky, they have road games at Florida State and Wake Forest, and home games with Virginia and Syracuse. It is possible they'll need to beat Kentucky to secure a sixth win and bowl bid.

      ACC Atlantic Division standings:

      NC State 4-0
      Clemson 4-1
      Syracuse 2-1
      Florida State 2-2
      Wake Forest 1-2
      Boston College 1-3
      Louisville 1-3

BC holds a tiebreaker for beating Louisville head to head, so Louisville is alone in last place in the ACC Atlantic.
