UK-UF Game Thread

I've been at this since 1954 (age 10) and I've endured a lot of heartbreak and disappointment during that time. It's always the most bitter when you lose one you feel you should have won. If we don't get down, this team should still win eight or nine games and go to a good bowl. I bet before the season began most of us would have been satisfied with that.

The first one I'm willing to chalk up to miscommunication, but two? Something is rotten in Denmark.

That was twilight zone stuff there. the 14 points, the high snaps, the balls spots, the holding call, ?!? TWILIGHT ZONE.

As usual some of you are so quick to blame the coaches. Yes, they made some mistakes, but just maybe Gran had the game winning play called when the OL didn't block and they got a sack. Or the coaches didn't ask the kid to hold when Snell made that last run, which would have made the difference. Yes, this is a heartbreaking loss, and we deserved to win, but it didn't happen tonight and it was a TEAM loss.

Absolutely correct, 1st loss of season and folks are ready to fire the OC, HC, etc.! Folks need to open their eyes and see that this program is in much better position and we are destined to have success. We have lost some key players on defense therefore playing with less experience plus defensive line depth needs to improve as players were likely gassed by 4th quarter. Yes this loss is bitter to take and frustrating but the future is bright! Looking forward to attending the Tennessee game.

It looked to me that Stoops was trying to call a TO on the last score. More importantly we need a center. Bad snaps probably took 7 to 11 points off the board.

Two TDs thanks to two WRs left uncovered is inexcusable.

Haynes and West shouldn't be left off the hook, either. That wide-open tackle West missed late in the game on 3rd and 6? Probably the biggest play of the game. A hold in as critical a moment as it gets from a team captain? Shouldn't happen, and regardless of what Haynes says, the call wasn't BS. He held.

That game was ours.

To me the most frustrating play of the game was the play where Edwards and Westry had the tackle on the guy on the last drive and he made one juke and went past them for the first down.

And there was a ton of frustration in that game, obviously. But that's the one that made me want to throw the remote the farthest.

I am really surprised about that some of us have already gone to, "Fire teh coaches". Really? REALLY!?! We are finally closing the talent gap with the top SEC programs, playing tough, and we lose ONE GAME (albeit in gut wrenching fashion) Lets not forget who brought that talent here. Have we had a better coach at UK since the last time we beat FL?

I expect this sort of silliness on twitter. Not here.

I agree it hurts worse. But the coaches aren't to blame for giving up sacks or holding. No doubt House cost us 14 points by not having his guys organized but the players have their fair share of the blame. We probably should have won that game 38-14. It's clear we have a good team and have gotten better as a program. They will most likely start out 5-1 with a one point loss to a top 25 team where we absolutely beat ourselves. That's pretty good for Kentucky football.

Agree. We're improving, but this tough loss was a gut punch which will linger until we start winning the ones we should....and some of the ones we shouldn't. Can't recall the last time I've been so disappointed. It isn't the fact that we lost. It's how we lost.

It isn't like we were about to back into that win. We were just the better team. It was painfully obvious...for three quarters. Usually if Kentucky hangs with a team like Florida it's flukish. Weird turnovers, strange bounces--we'll back into the lead.

Not last night. We just punched them in the mouth. Then we got conservative and tried to just "get out of there with a W." In the greatest and most brutal irony it was as if we were the superior team who got upset at the horn.

As much as Stoops has done for the recruiting and culture of UK football, I'm still not completely sold on his in-game management.

And he needs to have a Come To Jesus meeting with his defensive coordinator. Like immediately after the game last night.

I haven't felt this gutted after a UK loss since Wisconsin 15. We were quite obviously the superior football team... until, in grand Kentucky Football fashion, we weren't anymore. Devastating.

Kentucky was the better team on the field all night whenever both teams had the same number of players on the field.

It was only when Florida had more players on the field than Kentucky did that they were the better team or played better.

That's both encouraging, because it shows how far the roster has come, and discouraging, because the errors that cost the game were so unnecessary and unforced.
