    Is it possible

That there was some confusion on the team about the quarterback situation? Heaven knows on some boards it was rampant. After Drew did his series and Steven came back in the team seemed to focus a bit better.
SJ has a wonderful dreadful ability to embody what Stoops preaches... he grinds. Throw an in t, a fumble, bad call, leave the game.....he gets back in and gets back to work.
I think the young man has proven he's a winner. Might not ever be a star, but I think win with him or lose with him, Steven has the job. Period.

If there is still a QB controversy after yesterday, then we have some dumb fans

Several media sources (SEC Country & the H-L just to name a couple) are reporting that the plan was to play Drew the third and fourth series no matter what the situation. Stephen knew this beforehand.

Johnson is clearly our QB going forward and I'm glad that's settled. Barker deserved some PT but what I saw was pretty painful to watch. We lose Johnson after this year. At what point does Hoak start getting "meaningful" reps??

Johnson is fine by me and their should be no doubts going forward. I was not as offended as some that our 2nd stringer got a few reps yesterday though. We're real likely to need a backup at some point. Just wish we performed like we should have and Baker's reps could have been more the cleanup variety.

            This is correct.

There would've been no confusion because it was planned from the beginning. It wasn't a good plan BUT (1) we still won and (2) we now know 100% that Drew Barker should be getting 0 snaps unless there's an injury to Johnson.

What happened to Drew Barker? Doesn't seem to have any idea what he's doing.

Drew did not look good. That being said, EKU sacked both QBs. It may be a combination of line play, rec play and QB reads. The offense again looked like crap and the defense was on its heels in the first half against a lesser opponent.

Johnson admitting missing reads after the game. These past two games should have been feel good games to build confidence. What they have is a collection of bad performances and a whole lot of question marks.

I doubt that he will ever be the player we saw in the first half of the So. Miss. game last year due to the surgery.

We are gonna have to have a god season in order not to lose the incoming Williams kid.

the knock on Drew in practice was he was thinking too much. It showed in the game. He held on to the ball too long, and didn't get out of the pocket when it collapsed. Maybe that was SJ problem too, cause when we went to the 2min. drill, things took off.

... because he wants to go somewhere that they WON'T need a QB?!?!

Folks need to chill a bit. In college football the teams are never the same from one year to the next. Seniors graduate, others leave, get injured or just give up their football dream. It's always a work in progress and hardly ever is the team that starts the season the same as the team that ends the season.

Did we improve as the season went on last year? If your answer is yes then why would you think we can't/won't do the same this year?

Last year we had little defense and a disjointed offense to begin the year. The defense improved and the offense found its identity and we went to a bowl. This year the defense seems to be much better and we have a disjointed offense but I suspect we somewhat found our footing and our identity in the second half yesterday. So it's on to Columbia to open our next package of a scheduled 12 and see what that brings us.

                          This...

I expect a much better showing nest week! One that looks much more like last week's second half. The D is going to get a real test from their skill position players though...

I thought the timing of putting Barker in was irresponsible. This EKU almost beat us last time, so why would we throw in our backup QB when we're losing early in the game? It just doesn't make sense....unless Stoops felt Johnson was ineffective and we needed a boost. Problem is, Barker's no boost.

I didn't see the game so I can only comment on Barkers anemic performance from experience. Barker has worked his way back to #2, through hard work and talent. He is a gifted QB, and I bet if any of us were in his shoes, we would be nervous and trying very hard to impress the coaches. Also, IF he had come in and looked real good, we would be very happy about the QB situation. Obviously the coaches had a plan about when to get him a few snaps, and if Johnson should go down, we would be fussing that Barker would be more prepared if he had some game experience. Practice is where the staff see how players are progressing. I hope Barker gets more snaps.
