the wildcat is marvelous when it works, but we ain't got Toth leading the way. Offensive line will have to learn and come together...which they did last year.

defense was certainly improved. Punting was another world improved.
there will be some nay saying, but Gran pulled a whole new offense after a couple games last season SUPER to see Conrad show his stuff.

like I said.....whole lot better to get better after a win ... on the road....in a tough place......and against what could end up being a decent team.....than learn after a loss.

lol.....and the irony of Shannon Dawson handing out the final nail after the misery of him lighting us up last year was sure tasty.
Definitely tasty for our defense. They looked like they were on another level compared to last year. Those guys are gonna tire out, though, if we can't keep defenses on their toes. It is so obvious where we are going when we run the Wildcat. The predictability has to stop ASAP if we are to move up the SEC East pecking order.

Just shaking my head at the entire in game offensive strategy, philosophy, and lack of any general awareness of using mismatches and taking what the defense gives you.

It seems our coaches are hell bent on doing things one way, no matter what the situation and game flow calls for.

That better change. Teams aren't going to give us the win despite ourselves all season.

Just atrocious, kind of shockingly, on the offensive end today.

Defense and special teams were best in a long time.

The coaches sure have a lot to talk about next week, and when Westry sees his film, maybe he'll wake up. They will certainly get an ear full about the mistakes.

I have nothing to add, except that we better improve a lot, offensively, very quickly if this is going to be the season many are predicting it will be.

Someone tell me the last time a Kentucky defense forced three turnovers, scored a TD and ended the game on a four and out....
            Brooks? Curci?
hey, I know it ain't a power five team, but last year we had to outgun Austin Peay after falling behind.
Special teams......for a whole game,, finally special.

I really am as surprised as anyone about the offense.....but after last season I have some confidence in Gran and Hinshaw.
            well....until we lose anyway.

That is very true. I think they will get better because we have better athletes now. I'm concerned about the injuries to some key players.

It's funny reading this thread. The defense was really good, loved the new punter.

I really don't care that the offense looked stale. It's first game of the season. Wildcat has wrinkles you can put in it, we didn't use ANY of them! I promise we won't next week either !!! whoot!

The tv crew didn't provide any updates on injuries.... grrrr...

I truly believe the offense will come together. I definitely agree though that if I'm mistaken, you can cut an 8 win season in half.

I have never loved the wildcat... I'm ready to see it go away. I thought it hurt us today far more than it helped. It's predictable and messes with the offensive rythm.

The d and special teams looked well coached. That was nice.

Cats won an away game against a team that came back from large deficit last year on the road thus had confidence they could pulled out win today on their home turf. Give them credit for inspired performance which I suspect they will have a decent season. UK got the win and there will be some teachable moments this week in preparation for next Saturday. UK will improve so lets not go down 4 win conversation so early in season when 1-0 is best possible start!

Kentucky was better than the difference today... I love it. Didn't show anybody anything.

Garbage of the worst quality. And flawed logic. It's like saying OJ was innocent because he wasn't convicted.

Kentucky's defense (which was excellent) created enough takeaways to win, AND So Miss had to find a quarterback (who, by the way, was better than UK's), and they won. Don't dare to pretend that the absence of a loss equals quality, or competence, and CERTAINLY not genius level of potential concealed by carefully failed execution.

                              Just boo.

We won the game ,on the road, always a plus at U.K. Anyone who watched this years and last years game will readily acknowledge that Southern Miss is not near as talented as last year. We played horribly on Offense. Benny looked slow me tenative. We have no viable backup that I can see. Johnson made some good throws and some bad ones.Apart from Conrad I didn't see ANDOBY from the receiver corps step up. Defense was very good on the line but shaky at corner. Westry either has to improve or sit. I must say that U.K. appears to be WORSE of at the skill positions than they were last year. Other than the win (against a team that might win 4 games) I saw very little that excites me about the future.
