Perhaps it's because I've never been rich, but I've never understood the mentality behind working longer than one needs to. As soon as I reached the point where I knew I could make it, I hit the road (retired at age 54).

I did the same Matt. Left the factory shift work grind and headed back to help on the farm.

A VERY big factor is whether you loved your job. I did, and lasted until age 66.

CHEW ON THIS! If Vince Marrow were to leave for a head coaching job, whom do you think might step in as our recruiter in Ohio? Hmmmm?

I doubt that Bob Stoops would be interested in the job. He cited spending more time with his family as the main reason for his resignation. Recruiting is a very time consuming job with a lot of travel involved, even if he didn't have to leave the state of Ohio. In addition to recruiting, he would have to be a position coach as well. Also, if he isn't done with coaching, as some believe, taking a job as an asst. would be quite a step down.

I apologize. You may know Brother Bob better than I. It just seems to me that this is a very close family with lots of loyalty. The thought that a brother might like to stay in football but in a less pressured situation might ride to the rescue to help Mark be successful and recruit his own back yard in his retirement. Perhaps another brother?

No need to apologize although I sense you weren't serious anyway. I don't know Bob or any of the Stoops brothers. Just as you threw out your thought or opinion, I did the same. There's no need to be offended or upset just because I have a different opinion.
