    D.J. Eliot is OUT

    Overdue, if you ask me.
Here's some breaking news for your Wednesday afternoon: FootballScoop.com is reporting that DJ Eliot is headed to Colorado to be the Buffaloes' defensive

      I'm shocked!!

I think this is a good move, especially in the long run. The timing -- 2 weeks before NSD -- concerns me just a very little.

      But, I am still shocked.

This is my sentiment. I am sorry to see him go. Whatever they worked out after the beginning of the year seemed to be working and I worry how this affects recruits, especially on the d line.

No offense to DJ but I cannot see how this could be a bad thing for us. A coordinator's gotta be able to coordinate.

I'd hold off celebrating too much until we see who the replacement will be. Hopefully they've got someone in mind already.

If Stoops takes the promote-from-within route then I'll be decidedly less than ecstatic.

              Here are three possibilities.

I think this is two years too late, but I'm glad he's gone. I'm sure he's a great guy and I'll never wish ill on him but I just don't think he was a good fit here mainly due to inexperience. I hope we don't promote from within, but if we do that's just Stoops saying he wants to keep the control. I don't think Pelini would come but it wouldn't hurt to call. I wouldn't mind Buh. He's got some experience and I know him and our current staff have a good relationship.

I still stand with what I said on here about six months ago. Take the top 50 proven defensive coordinators, I don't care if they are at Bama or Michigan right now, and send them all a letter. Ask them what amount it would take to come to Kentucky then see if any are realistic. I think we need someone with solid experience, maybe even someone who tried the head coaching route but didn't work, to help take some pressure off Stoops as he continues to grow as a first time head coach.

The only DC that I would really get excited about would be Dick LeBeau, the DC for the Titans. Whoever else would have to be someone Stoops trusts. I would not be upset if it was someone from within. This means Stoops would continue to be active on the defense, and there wouldn't be any kind of disagreement or conflict or clashes should be defense stumble or struggle. We don't need another ego in there. Pelini? What is his relationship with Marrow?

Well, good luck to coach Eliot....I've dogged him plenty. Now we get to see if I get to mod my head in a there ya see moment or chew tinfoil.

I wish DJ nothing but the best. Sometimes we get what we want, then wish we hadn't, I hope this is not one of those times, we can't afford any set backs, we are way to fragile as a program. Trust in Stoops!

I think it is a done deal Colorado just has approval stuff to get through before they announce.

My 2 top choices in order....

Tosh Lupoi-OLBs coach Alabama. One of the best recruiters in the country. Unlikely to leave Bama, turned down chance to be DC at his alma (Cal). Throw 1+mil (like the elite programs) at him and see what happens.

Nate Woody- DC at Appy State. Great turnaround built Appy State defense to among best in country. Mid major experience and unknown recruiter.

So, you advocate bringing in a new DC and paying him more than coach Gran and more than double what the other assistants are making?
