I have a relative who hosts the family on his farm way back in the sticks... Black Friday will come and go without notice. The children will pursue a Thanksgiving themed scavenger hunt in the woods. Smaller children will cry from fright at the sight of the animal trophies in the foyer.

The men will undertake a Friday pheasant hunt.

At some point there will likely be a test of skill with handguns of every sort.

Anti-gun wives who have married into the family will disapprove and one at least will be passive aggressive in an attempt to ruin the event for her husband. (She's German) My wife will attempt in vain to provide a good role model for other ladies to follow.

Politics will be discussed throughout with most of the worlds problems solved over scotch with cigars by the fire Thursday evening. I expect a schism amongst republicans over Trump.

An army wife who was previously a bleeding heart leftist had had nothing nice to say about Hillary on Facebook this year. I am interested to know if this is a philosophical shift or rooted in Bernieitis.

A catholic relative will likely insist on compulsory candle lighting for lost or absent family. The Protestant majority and atheist will go along with it.

On the whole it's my favorite holiday.

I never do Black Friday, and having Thanksgiving on its day then left overs everyday until they are gone.

I will host the Thanksgiving meal like I have most years since my Mother died (1991). Might have 16 to 18. My sister helps with the sides and other people bring something. A friend fries my turkey. That helps a lot. She also caters and has given me great tips for early prep that make the meal much easier. Black Friday. We go shopping late afternoon. Not so much shopping, but get Angels off a tree and shop for them. Early dinner somewhere. I don't want to see the kitchen after 2 or 3 days of cooking in it

Just me and the wife, as usual. My daughter, SIL and granddaughter go to SIL family. We will cook a large turkey and have a quiet meal. (We cook a big turkey because they are cheap and we can use the Foodsaver and store turkey for weeks to follow). I don't like the NFL so we will watch movies.

No Black Friday. Too old for that nonsense. Most of our shopping is already done anyway.

Before you know it will be 365 days until Thanksgiving. Then it will be getting further away.

And by then it will start all over again when it gets to Thanksgiving day again.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
