Expand the playoffs to 8 teams

I would really like to see this expanded to the top 8. I know some think it might be too big and I agree that 8 should be the biggest it gets but look at this years possible scenario. If Clemson, Washington and Michigan lose one more game who is to say which one loss teams should be in the playoffs? If they remain undefeated then no problem but even if one of them loses one game who gets the last spot? There are some very good one loss teams out there. I feel after the first 8 or so teams the level of competition drops off a bit. Also if you get over 8 the season games will have a little less meaning.

To me in situations where there are multiple one loss teams you should defer to conference champions without the need of an extra round. I actually don't like the idea that a team like Texas A&M could get into the mix to win a NT if they couldn't win the SEC west.

Expanding to a filed of 8 only works if the conference championship games go away and that isn't happening.

I think the reason the number is so low on how many can go to the playoffs is to the make the teams play harder and show what they got. Then the other side of it I agree with what your saying about who would they get to pick the last spot depending on the outcomes.

My thinking is that when the day comes that the SEC gets left out of the playoffs then we will see 8 teams the next season. The SEC does not want to be left out of this at all. So until then we will have four.

Maybe some truth to this. Another reason I want to see 8 is that losing one game shouldn't completely take you out of all possibility of a championship. I could be wrong but I feel there are some 1 loss teams right now better than Washington.

Apparently the committee does too. Tex A&M was 4th in the first poll released by the selection folks. Washington was 5th.

I have no love for Louisville but I disagree with this. They are the one team with one loss I would put in the playoffs. Their last performance was not great but I feel they overlooked their opponent. Losting on the road to Clemson shouldnt be that bad. They could have just as easily won that one. Texas A&M got man handled by Alabama

Look at A&Ms schedule. That UL win over FSU is losing its luster with each passing week. So the question is who have they beat? They struggled mightily with dUKe and Virginia. Hopefully the fighting Patrick Towles' will beat them this week. BC has a good defense but they haven't played anyone either.

Thats why expanding would be great. A case can be made for lots of teams.

Why should a team that can't win their HALF of a conference get a title shot?
