    Accident in Lexington

I was headed to Cave Run Lake yesterday on a weekend fishing trip with my friend. While in Lexington on I75 we hit some rush hour traffic. We had slowed down to about 20 mph. Behind us, a motorcycle clipped an SUV and lost control. One of his friends, on a different motorcycle, swerved to miss them and ran into the back of my boat doing an estimated 70 mph. When I saw the motorcycle on the ground, I immediately ran back and was the first person to get to her. Unfortunately, nothing that anyone did mattered and she was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was given CPR almost immediately until the time paramedics arrived, when they took over and rushed her to UK hospital. The impact of her bike bent my trailer, bent the hitch on my truck, and knocked my boat off the trailer. She was with a group from Illinois. I will not give her name as I don't believe Lexington police have released it, but please send her friends and family prayers. I hope each and every one of you enjoys time with your loved ones today because we aren't promised tomorrow.

I'll be thinking of you as well, teamchemistry15. Although the accident was in no way your fault, being involved in an accident where someone is badly injured or killed has to be a traumatic experience.

So sorry you had to experience that. I can see where something like that would have an impact on me.

In a way I am glad it happened to me. I know that mentally and emotionally I can handle it. If it wasn't me it would've been the person in front of me and that car could've had children or others who couldn't handle the images and reality of the situation. No one dies young and she went out surrounded by close friends doing something she loved.

So sorry to hear this. Tragic for her family, and difficult for you, who witnessed it.

Hang in there team. Sometimes life and circumstances can be punishing, even for the innocent and unexpecting. Thoughts and prayers to the cyclists and to you and your buddy.
