I just want to let everyone know I am in the middle of a potentially life altering process. I am in the middle of (hopefully) being hired by LMPD. I have passed my written, oral, and fitness exam as well as a panel interview and in home interview with my background investigator. I have my psychological exam Wednesday and my polygraph next week on the 16th. I know it is a career where I put my life on the line every single day, especially with the issues going on across the country, but it is something that I have wanted for some time now. It is a long process that I started back in September and it is now coming to a close. After my polygraph I will have a medical exam then a final interview with the chief and his panel. There is an academy starting in February and another one in June and they are not sure which one I will be in if I get offered the job. Any prayers, wishes, thoughts, or whatever else it is you do would be appreciated. I am not telling many people, but as crazy as it sounds considering I only know one person on here personally, I wanted to tell the board out of respect for the members. I have been a member here now for over ten years!

I have a high school classmate that worked for the LMPD and retired early. He is now working for St Matthews PD. Good luck. If this is what you want to do, GO FOR IT!!! I'm sure you will be a good officer
BTW...once you are on the streets and if you are in Hikes Pt, please ticket folks that block the intersection at Breckinridge Ln and Taylorsville Rd

I do think it is a very dangerous profession. We didn't have the abundance of hard addictive drugs, when I was a kid, just liquor and pot. Now, with all the meth heads, crack heads, and pill poppers, there is an outlaw sub culture of drug addicts that will do anything to get high. You could have 100 routine interactions and a life threatening scenario on the 101st encounter.
What is happening in Israel with the random stabbings, could very well start happening here, with muslim extremists. Then, everyone will be toting guns for self protection.
