    Louder Than Life

Great show this weekend. A good mix of new and old. I hope this becomes a fixture in Louisville. Went last year and I thought this year was better. Nice job Louisville in hosting a FANTASTIC rock and roll show! Any of The Nation make it out to this?

I went Sunday. I went to see the KY Headhunters and ZZ Top. I was very impressed with Slash, the surprise of the day for me.I told the guy at the Guild Guitar booth about the Guilds that I 'have/had. He pulled out a box and gave me a hat and T shirt

Was disappointed that ZZ didn't play Just Got Paid but a good performance nonetheless. Them and Skynard are a little long in the tooth but I thought they did really well. A lot of the newer bands were suprisingly good. I had never heard of Nothing More but my goodness they put on a great live show.

My Morning Jacket played at the Louisville festival called Forecastle early in the summer. Different sort of venue.

I would've loved to have gone to Louder than Life just to see the Kentucky Headhunters. The fact that they're still going is amazing.

And it doesn't surprise me that Slash was impressive. The best guitarist of that era, IMO. The stuff that happened with G'n'R was criminal and for a good (and frightening) read, go here. It's a long piece, but the guy who wrote it is a Kentuckian and a genius. Also has an essay about Michael Jackson that's crazy good.

ZZ Top pretty much has played the same show for the last ten years or so. There's a ton of songs that I would have liked to have heard. The Gary Rossington Band had a few good moments but a lot of times they were at best a fair cover band. The Headhunters only played thirty minutes
