Kentucky's soft drink

    You guessed it

Each state might call these products something different (soda, pop, tonic, fizzy yum-yum juice), but there's no disputing that Americans love their soft drinks.

LOL!! Not surprised. Virginia, I believe I saw a bottle of Ale 8 on an episode of Justified.

I understand the Ale-8 thing here, but I have always fancied myself a SKI man.

I was wondering how many folks from the SKI camp would protest.

I am decidedly in the Ale 8 camp. Although my friends from Campbellsville will have none of it.

I like Ale-8. Diet Ale-8 has a weird aftertaste. I can tolerate it, but it's probably the strangest soft drink I drink--and I like virtually all of them. (Nehi FTW?)

My friend absolutely kills Diet Ale-8 though. Takes coolers of it with him in the car.

I don't like the diet version either. With coke, pepsi, etc., I prefer diet, but I agree the Ale-8 has an aftertaste reminiscent of the original Tab.

              I protest not!

If not for Ale-8 and its distributor I wouldn't get SKI here in Lexington. So the enemy of my friend, is my friend...or something along those lines, I guess.

AHHH...The Winchester delight! Love, love, love me some Ale 8. I laugh when I hear these soda snobs correct me and say, "Oh. You mean Ale 8 One?" Whatever douchebag.

I was born in Winchester 71 years ago, and it has always been Ale 8. Never have I heard it called Ale 8 One. When I was a little kid, I was out fishing on the Red River with my father one day. There was a drainage pipe coming out of the bank into the river, gushing water. My Dad told me that was where Ale 8 came from, and of course I believed that until I was smart enough to know better.

Ale-8 man, here. I live around Cumberland Gap (on the TN side) and am still fortunate enough to be able to find Ale-8 in the local shops.

Ale-8 tastes best when it's purchased from Miguel's at RRG.

I came this close to saying the exact same thing. Can you find those bottles anywhere else? I've only seen that size at Miguel's.

Oh Yeah. They're returnable for recycling.

Walk through the Gorge until you're well tired, go to Miguel's, order two slices your way, and 2 Ale-8's: one for now and the other for when the pie is ready. That's my routine.

There's no other way. Those big bottles hold a deceptively small amount of soda. Even if I try to pace myself, the first one's always empty by the time the food arrives.

First time I ever had Ale 8 was at Miquels. Awesome pizza there, though the rock climbing snobs can be a little, well, snobby. Yeah buddy you can climb and I can't but let's grab the ball and play some 21 while I wait for my food.
