For complete transparency, I messed up the forum database yesterday in an attempt to fix the smilies not working within posts. I used AI, specifically Google Gemini, to correct the problem, but it changed the old data into something our forum software couldn't read. Luckily, I'm smarter than I look, which isn't saying much, and I did have autobackups on. I still got stuck in a loop even with the backup.
Finally, I had to reinstall the software from scratch and reimport the database table by table until I found the bad one (the football 'node'), then worked to fix the bad characters one by one. I don't believe the smilies are working after the backup reinstall, but I am going to update the forum (say a prayer for me) once basketball season ends.
