25 Years Ago Today Stevie Ray Vaughan Died

Saw his show at Louisville Gardens in November of 1989. We were about 6 rows from the stage (festival seating). Jeff Beck was the opener.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I think the live recordings sound better than many of his studio cuts, and thoroughly enjoy SRV. I bet that was a fantastic concert, surveyor.

Yup. Studio recordings featuring great musicians tend to come across as sterile, or "too clean". I've got the SRV Live at El Mocambo and it's excellent. Among the few studio recordings that I like as well as live are some records - In Session Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They're essentially live because they're basically just sitting in the studio playing off each other and reminiscing. Not too much production and mixing involved.

Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long. I have several of his CD's.

I was planning to post this one.

It makes me chuckle every time.

That was the last of many times I saw him. The first time was at a bar on Main Street in 1983.

I couldn't listen to his music for a few years afterward
