    Ryne Sandburg passes

Saw where the Cub hall of famer passed at the age of 65 to cancer. He was a great baseball player.

Ryno! Heck of a 2nd baseman. I followed the Cubs a lot when I was younger and he was my favorite player for a time. Coming home from school to watch those WGN games in the afternoon holds a lot of memories for me.

Me, too. First exposure to cable TV and watched a bunch of Cub games in the afternoon. Harry Caray drunkenly slurring out 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' during the 7th inning stretch was always pure comedic gold. Watched the 2 HR/7 RBI game Ryno had live. He had a monster MVP season and I'm not sure 19 triples have been reached since 1984 but I'm too lazy to look it up. Great fielder, ran well, hit with power and average - just a great player all-around. Pretty sure the Phillies got MUCH less in return in that trade

Underrated on SNL. Loved his skits with JT. RIP
