"I'm No Longer Afraid" (Bill Cosby Story)

This is tremendously disturbing and sad. I can't think of another legend in the entertainment industry falling this fast, this horrifically.

Be warned that there is some EXTREMELY graphic language and shocking subject matter in the link.

Eddie Murphy used to have a bit about Cosby. Apparently Cosby called him at one point early in Murphy's career and told him to lay off the cursing. Murphy turned it into a joke obviously, but looking at that now and thinking about what we know about Cosby, it's darkly humorous.

The most vociferous moralizers are sometimes the most egregious sinners.

I can't use the type of language that you do, but you know what I mean when I say filthflarinflarinflarinfilth.

Cosby should show everyone that we do not know any of these celebrities or athletes. They put on display the person they want you to see but more often than not are the complete opposite. Choose your heroes and role models from the people you actually know not the ones you think you know.

Exactly, Kevin. I'm not into hero worship, but if if was, mine would have been my dad.

Good post and I agree. Another thing about all this that is troubling is why did all these women wait so dang long to come forward. I know the routine answer that is given in situations such as these, but I don't hold any of these women in high regard either. I'm sorry that it happened to them, obviously, but there's too many things that come out anymore about various situations that happened years and years ago to somebody. A part of me feels like it's just a cash grab for them. The way I understand the Cosby situation is that they knew pills for sex was the agreement. I admit I haven't followed this story closely. But if these women are expecting some sympathy for me, I can't say that I can give them much, if any.

A cash grab? What the hell are you talking about?

The reasons that they waited so long are all there in the article. You can read a narrative of how, and why, and the methods to which they were silenced.

If we're talking one woman it may be a "cash grab." A few. But when you've got that many women telling virtually the same exact story, then you're into an area of essentially a guy who had planned his method for years and carried it out essentially like a serial rapist. He had everything down pat.

And a lot of victims stay silent for different reason, usually shame. Many victims of abuse in the Church stayed silent for literally decades. Girls and boys who are molested stayed silent. We've only had years and years of evidence of this sort of thing happening.

If you aren't giving these women any respect, I don't know who deserves it.

If you read the article they tell you why. No one would listen for one thing. No one would believe that a well respected seemingly wholesome person like Cosby would do such a thing. Social media today helps in these things in that people can openly talk about stuff like this and not feel any reprecussions.

Blue, than you don't understand the situation at all. They were not aware they were being given drugs. He would slip it into a glass of wine, or a cup of coffee. These women want justice not money....
. When the lawyers get done with Cosby he won't be able to rub two quarters together... There will be no money to grab....

The horrific thing is that Cosby could have slept with many of these women, I'm sure. Or maybe not these women, but some women. His fame and celebrity would have opened doors for him that many people can't open.

And yet he chose to do it this way. It's basically psychopathic behavior. He must have liked the powerlessness and the dominance, maybe. Those videos at the bottom of the piece are some of the most heartwrenching I've seen. They in no way knew that "the pills for sex was the agreement."

I stand corrected. I posted and didn't read the article. I said I hadn't been following it. Last I heard, the pills were exchanged for sex. I can admit when I'm wrong about something and I'm wrong in this instance. You can throw water on the stake now.

AFTER reading the article, Cosby is even more scum now than I thought him to be.
