    The Great Outdoors

I’ve spent the last several days in the woods practicing some bushcraft skills and teaching others. We learned how to cast a net, we built a “lean to”. Facing a fire with a rock wall behind it casting the heat toward the lean to. Very warm and comfortable Saturday night when the temps dipped into the 40s. We learned to tie different knots, made tools from the elements and much more.

I don’t know how many you like the forest but there’s nothing like waking up to a multitude of birds singing and the smell of bacon cooking on the grill.

Roughing it may not be for you but at least take the time to go for a walk in the woods. It’s like a reset and good for the soul.

One can learn a lot just walking in the woods slowly and watching. But in the woods, not on a path.

I agree Lighthouse. Just don’t get lost.

Did you know you can drive a stick straight in the ground. Where it casts a shadow, put a stone at the top of the shadow. Wait 15 minutes and put a stone at the top of that shadow. Then place a foot on each stone. You are facing north.
