Undoubtedly the greatest racehorse of my lifetime. I don't believe I'll ever see a more dominant one.

His performance in the Belmont is the most amazing thing I've ever seen in horse racing. He won by 25 lengths. That's right, 25.

For my 50th birthday, my wife bought me a signed B&W print of the Belmont finish, Turcotte looking over his shoulder at the field in the distance. It's been hanging over our fireplace the last 11 years. I still get emotional looking at it.

I've always maintained that Secretariat is the best athlete that ever lived. Certainly a genetic marvel, but it was apparent this horse loved to run and lived for it. The statistics surrounding Big Red are still astounding.

All three Triple Crown races, Secretariat 1/4 mile split times decreased as the race progressed. He got faster as he went - which is the opposite of most other horses whose split times increase near the end of the race.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
