Clem Burke, drummer and 'heartbeat' of Blondie, dies at 70 from cancer

"His legacy will live on through the tremendous amount of music he created and the countless lives he touched," Blondie said in a statement."
Clem Burke, drummer for the legendary rock band Blondie, has died after a private battle with cancer. He was 70.

Burke's Blondie bandmates, led by frontwoman Debbie Harry, remembered him as "the heartbeat of Blondie" in a statement shared on Monday. "His talent, energy, and passion for music were unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable," Blondie said. "Beyond his musicianship, Clem was a source of inspiration both on and off the stage. His vibrant spirit, infectious enthusiasm and rock solid work ethic touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."

I recall the first time seeing them in the 70s either on SNL or Midnight Special, or maybe both. Great stuff. Sad that everyone we grew up with is getting older, too.

Trivia - Harry was almost abducted by Ted Bundy but managed to escape.
Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
