I didn't care for A Star is Born. I say this without having seen the originals, but it's a pretty pat storyline, the songs are just okay, Bradley Cooper's performance seems built out of clichés, and really the only thing I was impressed with was Lady Gaga's performance.

From your lips to my wife's ears... I have no interest in seeing this.I didn't care for A Star is Born. My favorite artist Jason Isbell wrote 'Maybe It's Time' that was sung by Cooper's character. He performed it when I saw him in Nashville last fall, it's okay but not my favorite. I may watch it if it comes on Netflix but I'm not going to go to any effort to see it.
Tried to watch Game of Thrones...got through the first episode and didn't get any farther. Fantasy stuff is too boring in the beginning for me.
I watched a Netflix Documentary called the Legend of Cocaine Island recently that I found pretty interesting. It starts out with a tall tale that turns out to be true from a guy who found a duffel bag of cocaine on an island off Puerto Rico and buried it in the sand, and winds up getting a guy busted with DHS and DEA in what seems like a pretty blatant entrapment scheme. I recommend it.
Also watched both Fyre Festival documentaries on Netflix and Hulu. Both are good and told just differently enough to be equally interesting.Comment

I thought this was a fine piece of crowd-pleasing entertainment. Obviously, we know the story beat-by-beat. But I thought it was good.I didn't care for A Star is Born. My wife adores it, so it serves a purpose.👍 1Comment

The deal with fantasy movies/shows is that those first few episodes are SLOW. They have to set the characters up. Then it takes off. It's worth the time to suffer for a bit.

Fantasy might be my least favorite genre of entertainment on earth. Just painfully boring. With that said, "Game Of Thrones" is pretty damn entertaining if you just stick with it for a few episodes. Lots of female nudity, lots of gore, lots of backstabbing. I approve.Comment

Saw Avengers today. I was surprised how good it was. It lived up to or was better than infinity war. A masterpiece of a comic book movie.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... Without getting into spoilers. I feel the same way. I loved it in the moment, but I don't love that resolution to the problem, nor to I like the timing. I can't imagine where they go from here in a fashion that is as interesting as these first three episodes have been.

I liked it a ton but I don't think it was better than Infinity War. There just wasn't enough action in it for me. It was hard to live up to Infinity War. I feel they just missed the mark. I had other issues with it but will wait a while to discuss them as not to ruin it for anybody.Isaiah 5:20Comment

I haven't seen Infinity War since it was out in the theater so... I don't remember it that well. I just don't think I left the theater as satisfied. Same with Empire Stikes back as a kid. I'm wouldn't argue that Infinity War wasn't the better stand-alone movie. I think I was taken with them finding a creative and interesting way to reslove the story.

I don't think he will ever finish the books. Were I a book first fan, it would drive me crazy. Especially these big endings where I doubt that is what Martin had in mind.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that...
