    This is kinda unusual, but....

guys, Im not much on asking for uplift messages, but my back went out this past week....walking on a cane or walker now, and taking pain killers....went to the clinic, got an x ray and seems I have some bone pressing against the spinal cord. pain level goes from aggravating discomfort to the occaisional whoooooooaaaa buddy, Im supposed to be getting referred to a neuro surgeon (and Im hoping they can find ANYthing besides the surgery part)....so Im a bit bummed out. Also hate it for my wife....she had knee replacement this past fall/winter and taking care of this big fat guy is asking a lot.

So for the fellow believers, prayers please. If thats not in your system, I would appreciate a couple of good lucks and hang in theres.

Just for point of reference, this back pain is worse than arguing with Dwight Schrute on the political board....lol.

So if Im absent for a bit or typing even crazier stuff.....its just the meds.

So sorry, Bill. I prayed for relief and that surgery will be avoided for you. I can relate. Back in 2019 I had three bulging discs and a herniated disc that was pressing against a nerve. The only time I wasn't in excruciating pain was when I was lying down. Like you, I thought I was facing surgery, but I saw neurosurgeon William Brooks of Lexington and he sent me to physical therapy. The pt did the job. When I finished my therapy, I brought home a sheet of exercises from the therapist, which I do three or four times a week and haven't had any problems since. I hope your situation turns out as well.

Happy to pray for you Bill.
Father, I come to You in The Name of Jesus. I thank You that we can call upon You and You hear our Prayers. I lift my friend Bill to You and ask You to relieve his pain and guide those who treat him to be at their best. Please bring Your Healing to him and allow him to forgo surgery. I also pray for his wife as she takes care of her husband. We give You all Praise. In Jesus Name, Amen.

A little encouragement...It will be a year the 18th of this month since I had my back surgery. I had 2 lower disc that had gotten so arthritic that it was pressing on a nerve. E surgery was to scrape off the arthritis. Had prepared myself for a lot of pain and was told to take the pain pills regularly so the pain wouldn’t get ahead of me. It was outpatient. I took a 20 minute walk the next day. Surgery was on a Wednesday I believe. Took the pain medication twice a day. By the weekend at night only. And after that only an ibuprofen if I got uncomfortable.

Praying for you Bill. Remember, while on pain meds, stool softeners are your friend.

Amen to that! Also, I certainly don't think asking for prayer in any situation is unusual.

Well....Im kind of caught on an insurance issue right now, because Anthem has not yet cleared an MRI. X rays show scoliosis...one twist in the neck, a twist the other way in the lower back. I have been telling everyone that means Im not as overweight as I thought, because apparently I am really six four or five and not six foot one.
Some disc compression. Since no MRI, unable to get injections for pain.....however, I have to say that the physical therapy twice a week has helped a great deal. While still not completely without some degree of discomfort, I dont have that pain that causes me to clinch my teeth and do the Tim Conway walk to the bathroom. Going back to the neuro folks this week to discuss.

I'm glad therapy is helping somewhat. Keep us updated on what's going on if you would please.

sure thing. the insurance thing is maddening...two years to medicare. LOL.....hospital charged insurance nine hundred for an xray. Then wrote off six fifty because I had insurance....not a deductible, just a write off. In other words, since I could afford insurance my bill was not as much as some poor guy that could not afford insurance.

                        quite a game.

It seems as if just about everything in our society is designed to stick it to the common man. My wife decided to retire last year at age 62. We took out some ins. on her through the Affordable Care Act. First, it wasn't the greatest ins. in the world and when we filed our taxes we found out that the money the govt. had been paying for us, on her premium, was countable against our Fed. tax return. We ended up paying $1,000.00 more in Federal taxes because of it.

After 46 years in the insurance business, not health ins., I can tell you that if the government would stay out of the insurance business, we all would be much better off.

Praying for you Bill. We are on Medicare and have an Anthem supplement that we will never give up. When I had my Aortic valve replaced, as well as any time we are in the hospital, we never get a bill for anything.
