Laura Linney is one of the very best character actresses alive, and frankly, she's the best part of "Ozark."

Bateman and the girl who plays Ruth are both fine, but Linney is the revelation here. If we're still making comparisons to "Breaking Bad," I will say that the one and only thing that "Ozark" does better is it's female characters.

In "Breaking Bad," Skylar was always thinly drawn and given the short straw, even towards the end when they tried to beef her role up. Anna Gunn did what she could, but it was essentially a thankless role. Luckily, Vince Gilligan and co. corrected that wrong with "Better Call Saul," by creating Kim Wexler, possibly the best character in either "BB" or "BCS."

In "Ozark," Linney runs the gamut. She's a knockout.

I like the look Marty and Wendy had. Something tells me Nelson didn't kill Ben.

I would say the actress who plays Ruth is the revelation. Laura Linney has been acting for decades, she's always been good. Hard to believe "You Can Count On Me" was 20 years ago.

Watching Ozark at first I was like "why would she take this terrible, thankless role?" Luckily they develop her character later rather than just being a plot device in Bateman's story, as she is in the first season.

Revelation was the wrong word. Linney is an established, and wonderful, actress.

And while Ruth seems to be the most popular character, she gets on my last nerve. It's not the fault of the actress, who has a lot of spunk, but a lot of times the dialogue the writers give her (especially in season three) is just really cringeworthy. Way too many unnecessary "****************s," and that's coming from a person who uses that word frequently.

I like her because she's fun and isn't rationalizing away her actions like almost everyone else on the show. The F-bombs can be a bit much but her insults wouldn't have the same punch without them!

Random aside: I loved the therapist asking Marty about the delivery ambush "Is this us?".

Spoiler alert so if you haven’t seen it don’t read past here...

I loved the delivery of Helen when the therapist asks for more money and Helen replies “we’ll see that you’re taken care of...”

              You knew what was coming.
