My boss, now retired, is Prine's age and went to every one of his shows in Louisville over the past 25 or so years.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

Gosh, this sucks. I got a feeling of dread last weekend when I heard he had been intubated, but the family had said his condition improved and given it was a few days with no news, I had hoped he was recovering.
I recommend his entire catalog but give his last album The Tree of Forgiveness a listen. Summer’s End and When I get to Heaven - the latter is the final song on his final album. Both are outstanding. Summer’s End is a sad song but also a sweet one.
A world without John Prine is a lesser world.Last edited by Dwight Schrute; 04-07-2020, 10:26 PM.👍 1Comment

Yes, DS, you said that well. This really stinks, he obviously was a humble, kind, and genuinely nice guy who also had quite the intellect. It just so happened that could deliver and share his genius in a way that was so pleasant.
Bob Dylan was a John Prine fan, that's how good he was. Just so happened there was a Kentucky connection, as his parents were from Muhlenberg County.Comment

I had never heard of John Prine until a couple of years ago. Surveyor put one of his songs on the music game, I gave a listen and was hooked. Thanks surveyor.Philippians 4:11-4:13Comment

When Prine's wife updated that his condition was stable, people started sharing that his condition was improving. She had to dispel that by reiterating that "stable" did not mean "improved". She stated that he had gotten no better, but had gotten no worse.
Just a helluva blow. I didn't sleep much last night, listening to Prine's music into the early hours of the morning.
Been driving to the office just once a week now with the virus restrictions. This morning, WFPK has been featuring Prine all morning during Duke's program.Extremism is so easy. I really like the work he did with Iris DeMent. "In Spite of Ourselves" and "Who's Gonna Take the Garbage Out".Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.
