    Purchasing A New Television

We've decided to invest in a new tv. There are so many variables, it makes one's head spin. I'd like some input from those of you who keep up to date on all the latest tech stuff as to what you all would recommend. Thanks in advance to any and all who reply.

The way I see it, you should either go low end (<$500) or high end (>$1500). TVs priced in the middle aren't appreciably better than the bargain brands. Since you’re a cord cutter, take a look at the TCL roku tvs. They have Hulu and the other apps built in without having any dongles to plug in.

Ours is a 49” 4K that we got at Costco for $349 and it has been phenomenal. Samsung, Vizio, and LG also
both make great TVs, but I am not a fan of “smart” TVs that have crappy apps built in.

Those TCLs GREAT for the money. If/when my 10 year old Vizio bites the dust that is what we will get. Love my Vizio and it's made in America.

We bought the TCL as a second TV for our basement when we bought our house a couple years ago, but I like it so much we moved it upstairs and moved our Vizio downstairs. I like the Vizio, but it's a Smart TV and the apps suck. We have an Apple TV that we use instead that is 6 years old but still going strong (Apple's devices are expensive but the quality is unmatched).

I like our TCL, it's a good TV, but basically all Smart TVs are spying on you and selling ads based on your viewing habits. It's up to all of us whether that's a dealbreaker or not.
