I would love for them to call me so I can play some games with them.

I got called. I played along with the guy and acted concerned. Finally told him I would let my accountant know, advise my atty who worked in the county atty’s office and ask my good friend who audits for the IRS, her opinion. He got agitated and said I didn’t have time to do all that. Told him I would take my chances, then he got nasty said something, I don’t remember, and hung up

Classic example why I NEVER answer my land line. I let my answering machine handle that BS. Anyone who I want to have contact with has my cell.

We try that too, but we get as many sales and scam calls on our Cells as we do on our landline.

The key is to never answer your phone if you don't recognize the number. This is also why texting has become so prevalent.

I got these calls last year. I let my answering machine take the call. They were all so dramatic about it. I just laughed at them. Anyone with any sense knows the IRS never calls you first if they have a problem with your return. I imagine the most vulnerable are these older widows who had always let their husbands handle the returns. Now they are alone and have no idea how to handle these things. They had rather give them what they want than to fuss with them. Then they end up in a lot of trouble. Just a shame.
