David Cassidy, ‘Partridge Family’ Star, Dies at 67

David Cassidy, pop culture idol of the 1970s, died Tuesday in a Florida hospital. The musician and actor was 67.
His publicist JoAnn Geffen confirmed his death, with a statement from his family. “On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.”

My wife will be sad to hear about this. She was a big fan of his. His obit said he had dementia. 67 is kind of young for that but he had abused his body with drugs and alcohol for a long time. I never watched the Partidge Family as we didn't get an ABC station in our house until 1975. So I just missed it. Never watched the reruns either.
      Kentucky fan since 1971.

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

He was interviewed by Dr. Phil in the spring. He spoke of being diagnosed with dementia after people questioned whether he was drunk while performing in the prior months. It appeared he still had an alcohol problem and it may well have been a combination of both.

He had a lot of issues growing up. His father, Jack Cassidy, was a real piece of work who had his own issues with bi-polarism and alcoholism. He was (unadmittedly) jealous of his son's career, but dismissed it as not a "real" career.
