We had just built our house and moved in December 16, 1994, after living in apartments for 5 years. One of my first purchases was a Pioneer stereo system and CD changer. Couldn't wait to blast music without worrying about bothering the neighbors. This was one of those albums, purchased about a year after we moved in.Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

I like a lot of their singles, but I certainly haven't heard all of their songs. In terms of image Billy Corgan seemed so different to me at that time. I still can't put my finger on it.
Growing up when our parents weren't around my older sister would have VH1 cranked up. They were pretty skilled in wearing a song out, unfortunately, but they did still throw some older music in as well. So in the early 90's you'd still have VH, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Metallica, and of course all of the hair bands still finding airplay.
My sister really liked a lot of the grunge era music, so I heard it often, and then when this album from Smashing Pumpkins came out the singles that were released seemed like a marked departure from what I had been hearing. They seemed so cool and I remember some of their songs being used in soundtracks for movies at the time.👍 1Comment
