Though I hope this never happens to you but if you get a message stating that your drive has been encrypted and telling you that you must pay to decrypt it, do not restart or shut down your computer. In many cases by doing so you will destroy the 'best case solution' because you wipe out what is being held in RAM you could also be deleting important evidence in a forensic investigation.
