MURRAY, Ky. – With Kentucky trailing 2-1 to Murray State in the top of the sixth inning, sophomore slugger Allie Blum stepped to the plate with the bases loaded, two outs and a full count and delivered, launching a three-RBI double to the wall in left center to score the game-winning runs and catapult Kentucky to a 4-2 win over Murray State on Wednesday afternoon in Murray.
Kentucky never led in the game until Blum’s go-ahead double, which put the Wildcats up two, a margin UK would hold onto until the end of the game thanks to Hailey Nutter’s three-strikeout bottom of the seventh to hold the Racers at bay. The meeting Wednesday was the first of two this season as Murray State is participating in next weekend’s John Cropp Classic in Lexington and UK will face Murray on Sunday afternoon to conclude the weekend.
The Wildcats with the win move to 7-4 on the season and collect their third true-road win of the season inside of three weeks in the regular season. Murray State falls to 4-6 on the year with Wednesday’s result. Kentucky will continue southwest to Memphis on Friday, the opening day of the 2026 Blues City Classic hosted by Memphis.
