    It’s ALARMING

How Pope fails to require boxing out. Play defense and box out. Or sit the eff down.
    BUT WE DON’T COACH IT.

This team is always one step forward, 4 steps backwards.

I always thought this teams problem was lack of a point guard but Aberdeen has become more than serviceable at the position. Really am beginning to think its coaching. I really wanted Coach Pope to succeed but he is not nor do I now believe he will in future.

He doesn’t have the players, that’s on him. However, I believe he can coach. Too many premo’s on this team.

I see lazy defense, no rebounding, too much dribble, dribble and poor substitution patterns.
these issues can and should be addressed by the coach, if he doesn’t , it won't bode well for him. There is already a.good portion of the fan base that are unhappy with him. I'm not quite there yet but getting very concerned.

Aberdeen's emergence as a point guard has been an bright spot in this disappointing season. He's still not the greatest rim finisher, but he makes up for it as an outside shooter. I wish we could have him for another year, and I wonder what his professional ceiling could be.

Don't disagree here. I don't think he recruited to his system. Obviously, injuries have been a huge issue, but he recruited a bunch of "dudes" and not guys who fit his style of play. Last year he assembled a roster that fit what he wanted to accomplish. Granted it was all last minute transfer portal gets, but at least they were more cohesive and could run the offense Pope wanted. Not recruiting a second true PG killed us this season. Actually, if we can find a way to retain many of the guys we have, and supplement by getting a true solid PG out of the portal along with a high level shooter and another Big, maybe we can get back to doing what Pope wants. to heck with High School recruits at this point for next season.

He overcompensated for the weaknesses in last year's team. Last year, we didn't defend or rebound very well. He went a little too heavy on building his roster for this year around the types of guys who will guard and rebound (I guess I should say when they want to). However, even with injuries, I see a coach who doesn't manage his lineups effectively at all. Pope acts like there's some rule that he has to make mass substitutions at the first TV timeout. In no universe can you play Jelavic, Johnson, Chandler, Noah, and Garrison at the same time. It's rather unironic that when those five were in Texas A&M began their onslaught. UK effectively got blown out right as they were on the verge of blowing A&M out. That was 100% on Pope.

I really can't remember, but were the subbing patterns similar in year 1? This year has been all over the place with no real rhyme or reason, outside of that's what some form of analytics say.

I don't know, guess the talent level wasn't a drastic drop off from the starters to the bench like this season.

Pope really needs a big man who can pass and handle the ball out on the perimeter. He had that in Amari Williams but he doesn't have that this year.

C'mon man. You need to call "EARMUFFS" for Garrison before you say something like that. He already thinks he should be backing defenders down more often!

I hate it but most of this falls back on pope. I really wanted him to succeed, but I've zero faith of him getting it done
