The list would be exhaustive. There have been very few movies I've truly liked in a long time. Probably 1 or 2 per year tops. And I probably watch no more than 10 a year anyway. Tried to watch 3 or 4 of the Oscar Best Picture Nominees last year and I think we turned off 2-3 of them. The only 2026 nominee I've tried to watch was One Battle After Another and I turned it off after 20 minutes.
And I don't think I've been to an actual movie theater in at least 10 years. There is nothing about that experience that is better than being at home.

Count me among those that enjoyed that movie. Not a deep, meaningful movie at all. Just an ironic view of that time period and someone who happened to be in the right place at the right time over and over. I found it charming/endearing and never tried to look any deeper than it was good entertainment. My sister is in your camp - rolls her eyes whenever anyone mentions it. Thought it was stupid and dull.Leave a comment:

I'll start with 3, in no particular order:
1. Fargo - even though I'd heard how awesome the wood chipper scene was, I couldn't make it that far. The characters and their nasal accents were SO annoying that I couldn't stand another minute of it after about 40 mins. I was fervently wishing every character would die and they'd start all over.
2. Princess Bride - finally watched it not too long ago and it definitely lived down to my expectations. It's billed as a comedy and, yet, I literally didn't so much as smile or even smirk a single time. Didn't entertain or amuse me in the least. Almost nodded off before the end. For the life of me, I don't understand people who've have told me 'it's one of my all-time favorites'.
3. The Gods Must Be Crazy - a true WTF was that? kind of movie for me. I felt like the entire movie was a running inside joke that I didn't get. Maybe the joke was, 'You believed other people when they said this movie was good - ha, ha!' Complete nonsense and boring as hell. 100 mins of my life I would truly like to get back.
There are plenty of others, of course, but those 3 immediately popped into my head when I thought of the topic.Tags: None
